The third edition of a youth training initiative in Oman, dedicated to electric vehicle technologies and sustainable transport, has successfully concluded. Known as the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme, it ran from July 19 to August 27 and saw the participation of 35 young individuals from various universities and colleges across the country.
Throughout the programme, participants were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum that covered electric vehicle technologies, including the intricacies of charging infrastructure, network planning, and vehicle maintenance and operations. Additionally, they explored the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global sustainability efforts.
The training sessions also delved into environmental challenges, imparting knowledge on sustainability principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Engaging workshops encouraged participants to devise practical solutions tailored to the specific environmental needs of their localities, fostering a hands-on approach to learning.
This initiative is a part of Oman’s broader strategy to advance sustainable transportation and is aligned with the nation’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. By equipping young minds with the necessary skills and knowledge, the programme supports the country’s commitment to fostering a greener future.
