During a two-day official visit to Türkiye, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Ankara Airport. This encounter took place prior to Erdoğan’s departure for an official trip to Qatar. The discussions were attended by notable Turkish officials, including Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Chief of General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, and Director of the National Intelligence Organization Ibrahim Kalın.

Munir’s visit underscores the ongoing efforts to bolster the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan, with particular emphasis on defense cooperation. Earlier in the visit, Munir engaged in separate discussions with Bayraktaroğlu, highlighting the focus on enhancing military ties between the two nations.

In recent months, Munir has emerged as a significant figure in Pakistan’s diplomatic landscape, especially in mediating regional tensions. His visit to Türkiye further cements the collaborative efforts between the two countries at a time when both nations are keen on fortifying their defense alliances.

Under the leadership of President Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the bilateral relations between Türkiye and Pakistan have seen substantial growth. These ties have expanded across various sectors, yet defense remains a central pillar of their partnership, reflecting the mutual interest in addressing shared security concerns and strengthening military capabilities.
