Oman and Pakistan have taken a significant step toward strengthening their bilateral relations by signing a visa exemption agreement alongside four memoranda of understanding (MoUs). The agreements, aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors, were formalized during an official ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad. The event was attended by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
Representing their respective countries, Al Busaidi signed on behalf of Oman, while Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar signed for Pakistan. The visa exemption agreement is set to facilitate travel for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports, thereby easing official visits between the two nations.
The four MoUs cover a range of domains, including telecommunications and information technology, radio and television broadcasting, the exchange of news and information, and collaboration between Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority and Pakistan’s National Archives. These agreements are designed to bolster institutional ties, enhance coordination between government agencies, and promote the exchange of technical expertise and information.
The signing also included the minutes of the eighth session of the Joint Ministerial Committee between Oman and Pakistan, further reaffirming the commitment of both countries to expand their bilateral relations. This development marks a continued effort to deepen partnerships across key sectors of mutual interest.
Overall, the agreements represent a strategic move to strengthen Oman-Pakistan relations, paving the way for increased cooperation and partnership in areas crucial to both nations’ development and progress. The new frameworks are expected to facilitate smoother interactions and foster a more robust exchange of ideas and resources between the two countries.
