Oman recently took steps to enhance its heritage and tourism sectors by engaging in discussions with Italian officials and institutions. Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, spearheaded these efforts during his visit to Italy. The meetings aimed to explore opportunities for cooperation in tourism development, heritage preservation, and cultural exchange.
During his visit, Al Busaidi engaged with representatives from the Italian Alpine Club and Renco Company to discuss the development of mountain and adventure tourism in Oman. The discussions focused on leveraging Italian expertise in trail development and related services to diversify the tourism offerings in Oman.
The minister also visited the Colosseum Archaeological Park, where he met with its management to learn about archaeological site preservation, heritage management, and enhancing visitor experiences. Both parties explored opportunities to exchange expertise and develop professional capabilities in these areas.
In an effort to promote Oman through sports tourism, Al Busaidi met with representatives of Inter Milan. The discussions aimed at exploring potential cooperation to showcase Oman’s tourism attractions to international audiences. Additionally, the visit included a presentation on the Italian tourism market, providing insights on strengthening Oman’s presence in Italy.
Meetings with Italian media organizations were also part of the itinerary, focusing on highlighting Oman’s cultural heritage, historical sites, and diverse tourism experiences. This initiative is part of Oman’s broader strategy to expand international partnerships, attract visitors from target markets, and draw on global expertise to develop its tourism products while safeguarding its cultural heritage.
